Mumbai: Ayesha Rafique Shaikh- Corporator, Govandi- Ward No-137-Samajwadi Party says there is inadequate police force to handle big crowd, no social distancing followed

Mumbai: Mumbai has emerged as hotbed of Coronavirus with the virus spreading ragingly leading to spike in cases daily.

Speaking to Hello Mumbai News reporter Sayed Nazia, Ayesha says she has been ensuring to sanitize the area, provide sanitizers to people to help maintain the hygiene level. She has also been providing basic food commodities to the people in need.

Ayesha makes it known that her ward comes in an area surrounded by slums and people are very poor with no funds to even hsve morsel of food.

She revealed that even as she has been receiving a lot of financial and food related assistance and support from the government as well as from the NGOs, it becomes difficult to handle people in a crowded people where no social distancing is followed. She feels it is pertinent to go in for more stringent actions and deployment of more police force to handle the public.

She adds that during the time of distribution there are about 2500-3000 people out on the streets all faced with poverty and hunger. And it becomes invariably difficult to manage things.

She appeals to  People to cooperate with her a little more to help fight the situation. She believes that when all will unite in the fight, we shall surely overcome the disease.

This being the month of Ramzaan and looking out at social distancing and lockdown, a few sellers do conduct iftari in the lane for a particular time slot. Fruits and ready made frozen stuff are available. So that’s how she manages her iftari and simultaneously manages her kitchen as well as the kitchen of others. Well if social distancing is the need of hour, it’s togetherness too!
