Mumbai Police-Underworld Informer arrested by Anti-Extortion Cell of Mumbai Crime Branch today

In a dramatic move the Mumbai Police and Underworld informer Salim Alias Maharaj has been arrested by the Anti Extortion Cell of Mumbai Crime Branch today for providing information leading to Underworld Don Ejaz Lakdawala who is now in Mumbai police custody he was arrested in Bihar.

According to the claim by the Mumbai Police, Salim used to provide them with vital information of Police actions against the underworld to Don Ejaz Lakdawala and subsequently provided the phone numbers of Businessmen, Hoteliers etc., to Lakdawala for Extortion demands.

Sources further claim that Salim Maharaj was working for some other Underworld Personalities on Pay Roll basis and had been shielding them from police by virtue of his contacts in Police department as an Informer.

It is believed that some Sr. IPS officers were said to have very close relations with Salim Maharaj. Whereas sources in the underworld allege that Salim had very good contacts in ATS and Mumbai Crime Barnch officers and was always spotted in these departments and also with some Sr. Officers of the said department.

Police is probing into the old criminal records of Salim Maharaj and his nexus with Underworld and Police department.
