Mumbai NGO Anam Prem welcomes Haj Pilgrims by offering ‘Sabeel on Moharram’
Ashutosh Thakur, President of Anam Prem, a city-based NGO, welcomed Hajis at Mumbai Airport on the auspicious day of ‘Asoora’ (10th day of Moharram) by organizing Sabeel among the devotees at Borivali station.
It may be noted that Sabeel is a Muslim ritual of offering free water / sharbat to humanity. According to legends Imam Hussain and his followers didn’t get water, hence in Moharram Muslims distribute free water / sharbat to make sure that no one goes thirsty at least in these 10 days.
Ashutosh Thakur President of the organization told Hello Mumbai, “Every religion is equal and teaches the principle of humanity. Our NGO believes in noble virtues like human values, unity, and equality. I think it is important to keep our heart pure and free from vices. We should be Golden Hearted and ready to help mankind. In short our NGO ‘Anam Prem ‘ has been started to spread a message of peace and communal harmony.”
He added, “Each year we welcome Haj pilgrims who return from Haj. Our volunteers daily go to the Airport, welcome them and congratulate them by giving flowers.” Speaking further, Thakur informed, “For Muslim’s Moharram festival we have started the ritual of Sabeel for the devotees. Likewise, for other religions, we organize different thing that satisfies their religion. Our purpose is to maintain communal harmony and brotherhood.”
Asif Tanwar, one of the volunteers for Haj pilgrims and Senior AMIM leader told Hello Mumbai, ” Anam Prem is doing a fantastic job for the communal harmony of the country. I appreciate their noble intentions. We should support them; today our nation needs such kind of people who are dedicated towards national’s integrity and secularism.
