MUMBAI: In a swift and tactical operation, the Nagpada Police’s Detection Branch has successfully tracked down and arrested an unidentified thief accused of stealing a mobile phone from a parked car. The police have also recovered the entire stolen property from the accused.

According to  Police official , a case had been registered at the Nagpada Police Station under Crime Registration (C.R.) No. 339/2026, under Sections 305(A) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), following a complaint that a Vivo mobile phone had been stolen from the complainant’s car.

The Breakthrough & Arrest

The Detection Branch, led by Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Dnyaneshwar Shendge, initiated a skilled and tech-savvy investigation into the theft. Leveraging local intelligence and investigative expertise, the team successfully traced the suspect and cracked the case wide open.

The arrested accused has been identified as Abhishek alias Andrew Dilip Pawar (29). A resident of Room No. 15, Ground Floor, Sankalp Siddhi Building, near Diana Building, Grant Road, Mumbai, Pawar works in housekeeping.

A History of Crime

During interrogation, the police discovered that Pawar is a repeat offender with a history of criminal activities in the area. His previous criminal record at the Nagpada Police Station includes:

  1. C.R. No. 230/2022: Registered under Sections 8(c) read with 27 of the NDPS (Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act.

  2. C.R. No. 792/2023: Registered under Sections 8(c) read with 27 of the NDPS Act.

  3. Non-Cognizable (NC) Case No. 749/2026: Registered under Section 504 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
