Temporary Traffic Restrictions and Diversions Announced in Dadar for Republic Day Event
Mumbai, January 25:
The Mumbai Traffic Police have announced temporary traffic restrictions and route diversions in parts of Dadar (West) on January 26, 2026, in view of a large public programme scheduled to be held at Shivaji Park Ground.
According to an official order issued by the traffic authorities, a significant gathering is expected for the event, prompting the need for special traffic regulations to ensure public safety, effective crowd management, and the smooth flow of vehicles in and around the Shivaji Park area.

The police stated that the measures are being implemented to prevent traffic congestion and inconvenience to commuters, residents, and emergency services during the programme. The restrictions will apply to select roads and junctions surrounding Shivaji Park, with designated diversions put in place to facilitate orderly vehicular movement.
The order has been issued by the competent authority under Sections 115 and 116 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, along with other relevant provisions of the Mumbai Police Act, empowering the police to regulate traffic movement during public events of this nature.
Commuters are advised to avoid the Shivaji Park and Dadar (West) areas during the restricted hours, follow traffic signage, and cooperate with on-ground traffic personnel. The Mumbai Traffic Police have also appealed to citizens to use public transport wherever possible and plan their travel in advance to avoid delays.
Further details regarding specific road closures, diversion routes, and timings will be communicated separately by the traffic department.

The following traffic regulations shall be in force on 26th January 2025 from 6:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, or till the conclusion of the event, whichever is earlier.
2. Roads Closed / One-Way Traffic
All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding from Gadkari Junction towards Cadell Road in the south-to-north direction.
Traffic from Gokhale Road (North) near Siddhivinayak Temple Junction to Portuguese Church Junction will be permitted in one direction only.
Swatantrya Veer Savarkar Road, from Siddhivinayak Junction to Shivaji Park Junction, shall remain completely closed for all vehicular traffic.
Vehicles coming from the western side of Savarkar Road towards the Western Suburbs shall be diverted via Siddhivinayak Junction – Cadell Road – L.J. Road – Gokhale Road.
3. Roads Reserved for Parking (No Through Traffic)
The following roads shall be used only for parking purposes and shall remain closed for moving traffic:

Cadell Road (South, Central, and North)
Lieutenant Dilip Gupte Marg (from Cadell Road North to Portuguese Church Road)
Portuguese Church Road
N.C. Kelkar Road (from Gadkari Junction to Kotwal Garden)
Saint Xavier Road
4. Parking for Police and Government Vehicles
Parking arrangements for vehicles of Police, PWD, and other Government Departments are made at:
Vanita Samaj Ground
Mahatma Gandhi Swimming Tank Area
Corporation Public Vehicle Parking Ground, N.C. Kelkar Road, Dadar (West)
5. Routes for Invitees Attending the Event
a) From South and Central Mumbai:
Invitees should proceed via Tilak Bridge, continue towards N.C. Kelkar Road, take diversion at Gadkari Junction, move via Portuguese Church Road, then turn towards Cadell Road (South) and enter Shivaji Park Gate No. 1.
b) From South Mumbai via Dr. Annie Besant Road:
Vehicles should proceed to Siddhivinayak Junction, move northwards on Savarkar Road, turn right at Cadell Road (South), and enter Shivaji Park Gate No. 1.
c) From Western Suburbs (Mahim–Oshiwara Link):
Vehicles should proceed via Mahim – Hinduja Hospital, continue on Savarkar Road, turn right at Cadell Road (South), and enter Shivaji Park Gate No. 1.
d) From Western Suburbs via L.J. Road:
Vehicles should proceed to Gadkari Junction, take diversion towards Portuguese Church Road, turn right at Cadell Road (South), and enter Shivaji Park Gate No. 1.
6. Traffic Dispersal After Event
Vehicles exiting Shivaji Park shall exit through Gate No. 5, proceed towards Cadell Road, take a left turn onto N.C. Kelkar Road (North), continue up to Swami Samarth Chowk, then turn left onto Swatantrya Veer Savarkar Road and proceed towards respective destinations.
7. Advisory for Local Residents and Citizens Without Car Pass
Local residents and citizens without valid car passes are advised to park their vehicles at designated BMC public parking facilities, including the Corporation Public Parking Ground on J.K. Sawant Road, Dadar (West).
8. General Instructions
Traffic movement in the area may remain slow during the restriction period.
Parking or halting of vehicles at unauthorised locations is strictly prohibited.
Motorists are requested to follow traffic police instructions and cooperate for smooth traffic management.
