Three new criminal laws that come into effect today are welcome change from the colonial mindset of previous laws. They bring necessary emphasis on crime against women reflecting concerns on rape, molestation, and child trafficking. The use of scientific aids to investigation should help insecuring better conviction rates and a cap on adjournments by courts should get faster justice to victims

In 2020 PCGT had set up a committee consisting of senior police officers Sh. Satish Sahney, Sh M.R. Reddy, Late Shri S.S. Puri, and myself. DGP had nominated three young officers. The committee made several recommendations to bring victimology to centre of the Criminal Justice system. It is very satisfying to see many of the recommendations codified. Now it is over to implementing agencies and courts.
