Sextortion is becoming an order of the day. It’s a menace. The latest victim to get caught in this Sextortion is Borivli based Shiv Sena MLA Prakash Surve
Sextortion is an high incident crime.

Reportedly, Surve had received a video call from a fraudster who allegedly morphed the picture of the MLA, to extort money. However, Surve refused to meet the demands of the fraudster and approached the police.

As per official from Dahisar Police Station, the incident took place on November 16.

According to the Shiv Sena MLA on November 11, he first received a WhatsApp message – “Hello, How are you. K” – on from an unknown number and he didn’t answer. Again he received another message on November 13, from the same number as “Hi”. He once again remained silent.

After 3 days on November 16, theMLA received a third message stating, “Hello, Kya Hua Ji”, from the same number, followed by a WhatsApp video call. Though he never responded to this, but when he received the second call he denied the call ignored this, but he answered the second call which he received from the same number assuming it to be a night call.

Surve makes it known that since he is into social work, he answers calls and WhatsApp messages from unknown numbers in a bid to resolve it. This Was in a statement to the police. But much to his shock Surve saw in the video clip a woman undressing before the camera. He immediately disconnected and warned the caller to desist from calling him orelse he will have to face the police.

Again the MLA received a video clip of their earlier conversation. This time the fraudster had morphed Surve’s photo and demanded Rs 5000; if not paid, he threatened to viral the video on social media.

On the strength of the MLA’s statement, the Dahisar police registered an offence under sections for defamation (500) and criminal intimidation (506) of the Indian Penal Code, and sections 66 E (violation of privacy) and 67 A (transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act.
