PALGHAR: Television actor Sanchita Ugale, widely recognized for her roles in popular serials including Kumkum Bhagya and Wagle Ki Duniya, died by suicide on Sunday, June 14. She was 22 years old.
The incident took place at her residence in the Sai Santoshi Building, located in the Aachole Village area of Nalasopara East, Palghar district.
Details of the Incident
According to law enforcement officials, the tragedy occurred between 7:00 PM and 7:30 PM on Sunday, while Ugale was alone at home.
Assistant Police Inspector Vinod Bagh of the Achole Police Station stated that Ugale had locked herself inside her bedroom and allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan using a saree.
Upon discovering the incident, family members and local residents rushed her to the Vasai-Virar Municipal Hospital. However, attending doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Police Investigation Underway
After being alerted to the incident, a team from the Achole Police Station reached the spot to initiate standard procedural inquiries. An inquest report was prepared on-site, after which the body was sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Following a formal complaint filed by the actor’s father, Machhindra Ugale, the Achole Police officially registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) on Monday, June 15. The case has been filed under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and further investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is currently underway.
