Dance Bar Owners Booked in Alleged Gunpoint Kidnapping, Assault and Molestation Case in Thane; FIR Filed After 3-Day Delay

A serious criminal case involving allegations of kidnapping at gunpoint, assault, molestation, criminal intimidation, and suspected police collusion has surfaced in Thane, raising significant concerns over public safety and law enforcement accountability.
An FIR has been registered at Shrinagar Police Station under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS), including Sections 74, 189(2), 190, 191(2), 191(3), 333, 352, 351(2), 118(2), and 140(2), along with Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act.
The complaint was lodged by Dinesh Shetty (38), a hotel manager and resident of Wagle Estate, Thane.
Accused Named in FIR
The FIR names two individuals:
Suresh Kariya Shetty, reportedly associated with Dhamaal Bar in Thane
Vijay Shetty, reportedly associated with Angels Dance Bar in Thane
Both accused are currently reported to be absconding.

Allegations in the FIR
According to the complaint, the incident occurred on February 14, 2026, at approximately 2:30 AM. The complainant has alleged that the two accused, accompanied by nearly ten unidentified persons, forcibly entered his residence.
The FIR states that the accused:
Broke open the house door using iron rods and wooden sticks.
Assaulted the complainant and his wife inside the residence Threatened and physically attacked the complainant’s wife and minor son Allegedly molested the complainant’s wife when she attempted to record the incident on her mobile phone
Snatched her phone and allegedly deleted video evidence .Issued death threats, allegedly warning the family of severe consequences
The complainant has further alleged that the accused forcibly dragged the entire family out of their home at gunpoint and took them to the local police station.
Allegations of Police Inaction
In a significant development, the complainant has alleged that despite visible injuries and the presence of a woman and minor child late at night, police personnel allegedly failed to intervene or question the attackers.
The FIR was reportedly registered three days after the alleged incident. The delay has raised concerns regarding procedural compliance and police response.
The complaint also contains serious allegations against a senior police official, claiming that the officer failed to act promptly and was allegedly “hand in glove” with the accused. These claims have intensified scrutiny over policing standards in the region.

Family Under Trauma
Dinesh Shetty is currently undergoing medical treatment for injuries sustained during the alleged assault. His wife and minor child are reportedly receiving psychological support following the traumatic episode.
The complainant has reiterated that the accused continued issuing death threats in an attempt to silence the family.
Matter Escalated to Higher Authorities
According to sources, the family has escalated the matter to higher authorities, including Maharashtra Police

Representations have also reportedly been made to various media organizations.
Demands by the Victim’s Family
The family has demanded:
Immediate arrest of the accused
An independent investigation by the Crime Branch or a Special Investigation Team (SIT)
Police protection for the family
Preservation and seizure of CCTV footage and digital evidence.
Police Confirm Legal Action, Say Investigation Underway
Speaking to Hello Mumbai News over the phone, Senior Police Inspector Mr. Padtare of Shrinagar Police Station confirmed that legal action has been initiated in the matter .
“ On the Basis of Complaint filed by Dinesh Shetty We have registered an FIR against Two accused Vijay Shetty and Suresh Kariya Shetty Our team is examining all available evidence. Summons will be issued to the accused persons for inquiry. The investigation is currently underway,” he stated.
The Senior Police Inspector further clarified that the primary trigger behind the dispute appears to be a controversial social media post that was allegedly shared in a community-based group, which reportedly led to tensions between the parties involved.
Police officials have reiterated that the matter is being investigated thoroughly and appropriate legal procedures are being followed.
