Ketaki proves that “Anyone could be confident with hairy head, but in a confident bald woman – there’s a diamond in a rough.”
While interacting with Hello Mumbai News Correspondent Neha Singh she shares her professional journey.
She said that though Ahmedabad born, she is based in Pune and employed in a Government organisation. She is proud holder of B.A, B.Ed and M.A degree.
She went on to add that “In our country where a lady is stereotyped to have long hair, how bald women walk with confidence and glory? Ketaki Jani is one such woman, who battled with depression, Alopecia, stereotypes, and bullies.
While narrating her story, she said “She was leading a normal life like any other woman and for her everything seemed great. She has an amazing family blessed with a daughter, son and two dogs.
She went on to add that all of a sudden her world got shattered after she started losing hairs fast and got devastated with ALOPECIA, a disease where hairs are lost and the only temporary remedial medicine was steroids.
No doubt Growth of hairs was possible but with lot of weight loss and dangerous side effects. Even after losing her hair, the treatment had to be continued. She had to go through a series of consultations, medication, with daily dose of steroids for two and a half years. It was too easy to slip into depression and she was on the verge of committing suicide.
Nevertheless, defeating depression and coming out of it was a choice which she made after which she accepted the truth and embraced her baldness.She boldly started venturing out without any scarf or wig and left the society silenced and awed.
Her participation In Mrs. India Worldwide Competition she was just for fun. She was ready to return home empty handed. Even here too few participants were looking at her in disbelief. But the Panel of Judges were very positive. At the Finale in Delhi, she got the best comment from a veteran actress and an icon Zeenat Aman, who said “let anyone be Crowned, but for me you are the winner”.
You have your own crown which always remains on your head and she won MRS. INSPIRATION. This motivated her. Then she took part in many Beauty Paegent and ended up with the success chapter with her participation in MRS. UNIVERSE 2018 held in PHILLIPINES (December 2018) and crowned “MRS. UNIVERSE CONFIDENT”.
Apart from this, she is running an awareness campaign for Alopecia patient to make their life worth living and enjoying. She had given a fitting answer to the society who was making fun, taunts and rumours of her baldness.She is the First Aelopecian surviver and Role Model in India.
