Bahujan Vikas Aghadi Secures Clear Majority in Vasai–Virar Municipal Corporation

The Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) has emerged victorious with a clear majority in the Vasai–Virar City Municipal Corporation elections, retaining its stronghold under the leadership of Hitesh Thakur. Out of the total 115 seats, the BVA won 71 seats, comfortably crossing the majority mark, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 43 seats.
With this decisive mandate, the BVA has once again established its authority over the Vasai–Virar Municipal Corporation, reaffirming the party’s dominance in the region. The result is being seen as a significant political achievement for Hitesh Thakur, who successfully defended his bastion despite a tough contest.
According to the official results, the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi registered victories in several wards, including Ward Numbers 1, 3, 4, 6-01, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21-03, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29, with four-member panels winning in multiple wards, taking the party’s total tally to 71 seats.
The BJP won seats in Ward Numbers 2, 5, 6-03, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 18, 21-01, 22 and 23, with four-member panels in these wards contributing to the party’s total of 43 seats

Among other parties, the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) managed to win one seat, while Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction), Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction), Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi and other parties including SP, AIMIM, AAP and BSP failed to open their account.
The final seat tally stands as follows:
Bahujan Vikas Aghadi: 71
BJP: 43
Shiv Sena (Shinde): 1
Others: 0
With this clear mandate, the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi is set to form the governing body of the Vasai–Virar City Municipal Corporation, continuing its rule and strengthening its political influence in the region.
