What inspired you to become a solo entrepreneur, and how did your entrepreneurial journey begin?
Ankita Juneja
I studied architecture and was always sensitive to how spaces affect people’s emotions, energy, and wellbeing. After working for a few years, I wanted to explore interiors more deeply, which led me to pursue my Master’s in Interior Design from Leicester, UK. During this journey, I discovered holistic design and how thoughtfully designed spaces can positively impact people. This became the foundation of Ankita Juneja Holistic Design. Later, my interest in creating meaningful experiences also extended into weddings, and I became Co-Founder of Shaadi Vibez, a bespoke wedding management company.

As a solo founder, what have been your biggest challenges in building and scaling your business without a co-founder or large team?
Ankita Juneja
As a founder, the biggest challenge is managing multiple roles at the same time. Apart from creativity and design, one has to handle client communication, planning, coordination, execution, marketing, and business decisions. It can be demanding, but it also teaches you discipline, ownership, and the ability to grow step by step.

How have MSME initiatives and government policies contributed to your startup’s growth? Are there any areas where additional support is needed?

For creative and service-based businesses like interior design, architecture, and wedding management, direct government involvement is still limited. However, MSME recognition can help businesses with credibility, formal growth, networking, and financial access. More focused support for women entrepreneurs, creative professionals, and service-led MSMEs would be very helpful in building stronger businesses.

In today’s competitive market, what strategies have helped you build a sustainable and profitable business?

The main strategy that has worked for us is personalization. At Ankita Juneja Holistic Design, we specialize in luxury 3BHK residences, penthouses, and high-end interior design projects, generally starting from ₹50 lakhs and above. We do not just design beautiful spaces; we also consider how the space will make the user feel and how it supports their lifestyle. At Shaadi Vibez, we follow a similar approach by creating weddings that reflect the couple’s personality, story, and vision. This detail-oriented and emotional approach has helped us build trust with clients.

Both businesses are creative and service-based, so we have not raised external funding so far. We are currently bootstrapped and focused on growing sustainably through quality work, client relationships, referrals, and consistent execution. In our industry, trust and delivery are very important for long-term growth.

What advice would you give to aspiring solo entrepreneurs who want to launch their own startups but are hesitant to take the first step?

My advice would be to start before you feel fully ready. Many creative people overthink and want to know every step before beginning, especially because the business side may feel unfamiliar. But clarity comes only through action. Start small, experiment, learn from your mistakes, and keep improving.

I try to prioritize my work and maintain clear working hours, although it can be challenging in a creative field. I also make time for my daily rituals, habits, and personal wellbeing. As an entrepreneur, balance is not always perfect, but being mindful of your energy, routine, and learning is very important.

My message to young entrepreneurs is simple: start, experiment, and do not be afraid to fail early. Failure helps you understand what works and what does not. Do not get overwhelmed by the details; many answers come only after you begin. I also believe founder communities and business networks play a very important role. Personally, Global Startups Club has helped me connect with other founders, exchange ideas, and explore business opportunities through its different networking models. For any entrepreneur, being part of the right ecosystem can bring motivation, connections, and growth opportunities.
