Hello Mumbai City Desk
The second weekend of Drum Cafe India’s Maha Bhakti Rhythm Yatra, in collaboration with Bhakti Kala Kshetra, ISKCON Juhu, got a dose of star power when veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai turned up to cheer on singer Vaishnavi Shriram, an alumna of his Whistling Woods International. Keeping it classic yet stylish, Ghai opted for a black kurta set paired with a vibrant red plaid shawl and his signature spectacles. Besides Ghai, singer Bhoomi Trivedi and Shriram Balasubramanian – trustee, RK Educational & Charitable trust, also attended the do.
The house was packed again, and the energy was sky-high as hundreds of participants drummed and chanted in unison. Billed as India’s first-ever 500-drum bhakti jamming experience and led by Dr Vinod Hasal – Director of Drum Cafe India and an eighth-generation Jaipur Gharana Kathak exponent, the Yatra hands every audience member a drum and turns them from listeners into performers.

Ghai was seen drumming with the audience, and enjoying the performances through the evening, and he even got up to give a speech. “500 people drumming together at this event called Maha Bhakti Rhythm Yatra is a massive thing,” he said. Talking about Vaishnavi, he shared, “When you see your kids on stage, that happiness is unparalleled. It’s like a second achievement for the parents… first for the couple, and then the kid. I’m so proud of Vaishnavi. She was one of the best singers we had in our institute, and I feel really happy when I see kids from my institute, who have worked so hard, achieve new heights. You’ll be surprised to know that she can sing in nine languages – Persian, Spanish, Korean, Arabic, Hindi and many more! If you ever listen to her peacefully, you’ll feel the same joy that I do.” When asked whether he would be one of the 500 drumming along, Ghai joked, “I am scared!” and broke into laughter.
Maha Bhakti Rhythm Yatra continues at ISKCON Juhu, Mumbai, on 14th-15th November and 21st-22nd November 2026.
