Mumbai Police to deploy 40,000 Policemen on New Year Eve
The New Year Eve seems to be packed with Masti, Maaza and Dhamaka as the restaurants and bars have been permitted to remain open till 1.30 am. In addition, permission to play blaring music till midnight is also provided and last but not the least excise department has given permission to serve alcohol in hotels till 5 am on January 1. In nutshell, this New Year Eve will be a bonanza for party animals and the youth.
Though the government has been lenient this year but the security cover is a major threat to Mumbai. However, Mumbai Police has assured that it is taking all measures to have safe Near Year celebration.
Briefing media, Manjunath Singhe, Deputy Commissioner of Police and Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Mumbai Police said, “To ensure a peaceful New Year celebration Mumbai Police has deployed more than 40,000 policemen plus an additional services of State Reserve Police Force, Home Guard, The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) will also be on alert on New Year’s Eve! We have also taken anti-sabotage measures and Quick Response Teams (QRT) will be stationed strategically for immediate response in case of emergencies.”
He added, “Most importantly, marine patrolling will be stepped along the Mumbai coast. As a preventive measure, No Boat Party is permitted. Coast Guard, Indian Navy and Mumbai Police Port Zone boats will patrol the seas for any suspicious sightings.”
MAJOR SECURITY ARRANGEMENTS ON NEW YEAR EVE –
5000 Police Vehicles fitted with CCTV cameras will patrol all over Mumbai.
Civilian Police will be stationed at sensitive areas of Mumbai. 200 Policemen will be deployed at Marine Drive Both the Mumbai’s Popular Party Beaches Aksa and Madh Island will have 200 policemen at each beach.
Similarly, a special Police Team will be vigilant at Gateway of India, Juhu, Mahim, Girgaon, Versova, Gorai Chowpatty, and Powai Talao. Police will conduct alcohol test i.e. Breathalyser tests on Highway and popular beaches.
Anybody bursting fire-crackers after 10 pm will be prosecuted.
