Crystal Tower Fire Tragedy : Developer Razak Ismail Supariwala
The Mumbai police have nabbed the developer Abdul Razak Ismail Supariwala in connection with the massive inferno at the 12th floor of a posh high-rise 17-story Crystal Tower building near Hindmata Cinema in Dadar. The accidents killed four people and at least 22 others severely injured. Nearly 30 people were rescued from the high-rise residential building.
Speaking to Hello Mumbai, N Ambika, the DCP (Zone-IV) said, “We have arrested Abdul Razak Ismail Supariwala under IPC section 304,336,337,338 of Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Act 2006 on the complaint lodged by Mr. Vinod Dattaram Mayekar, the Divisional Fire officer Wadala Command Centre related to the fire tragedy at Crystal Tower.”
According to sources the developer Abdul Razak Ismail Supariwala had received a notice from BMC to vacant the building. The BMC had warned him not to allow any resident occupation without legal clearance but he declined the BMC notice and illegally allowed 58 flat owners to reside in the building without a valid Occupation Certificate and this resulted in the tragedy.
