In a major crackdown against the illegal drug trade, the Maharashtra Anti-Narcotics Task Force busted International racket of Drugs Dealers and Manufacturers.
On December 21, 2025, the Konkan unit of the ANTF seized 1.488 kg of MD drugs worth ₹1.48 crore from accused Abdul Qadir Rashid Shaikh during a raid near the old bus depot on the Pune–Mumbai Highway at Vashi village, Navi Mumbai. A case in this regard was registered at Vashi Police Station under the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate.
Further investigation and technical analysis revealed the involvement of Prashant Yallappa Patil, a resident of Belagavi, who was identified as a key manufacturer of MD drugs. The probe revealed that MD drugs were being produced at three manufacturing units in Bengaluru.
During follow-up action in Bengaluru, police detained Suraj Ramesh Yadav and Malkhan Ramlal Bishnoi, permanent residents of Rajasthan who were operating an illegal MD drug business in Bengaluru. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime and led the police to the manufacturing units located at Spandana Layout Colony (RJ Event factory), NG Gollahalli, and an RCC house in a residential area at Yerapanahalli, Kannur.
In coordinated raids at these locations, police seized:
4.100 kg of solid MD drugs
17 kg of liquid MD drugs
Machinery used for manufacturing MD
Large quantities of chemical substances
The total seizure amounted to 21.400 kg of MD drugs, valued at ₹55.88 crore. All three MD drug manufacturing units were subsequently destroyed.
Investigations revealed that MD drugs were being manufactured within densely populated residential areas of Bengaluru and distributed across multiple states in India. Preliminary findings also indicate that the accused had purchased substantial immovable properties in Bengaluru using proceeds from drug trafficking.
So far, four accused have been arrested, while police teams are actively searching for two key absconding accused connected to the racket.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Mr. Sunil Ramanand, Additional Director General of Police, State Crime Investigation Department, Pune; Ms. Sharda Raut, Special Inspector General of Police, ANTF Maharashtra; and Mr. Praveenkumar Patil, Deputy Inspector General of Police. The action was executed by officers and personnel of the Pune and Konkan Action Groups, who demonstrated exceptional dedication and professional skill during the interstate operation.
