MUMBAI 30 May: In a major crackdown on illegal land occupation, Mumbai Suburban Collector has successfully reclaimed approximately 8,000 square feet of prime government land in Juhu. The market value of the recovered property is estimated to be around ₹80 crore.
The Massive anti-encroachment drive, which spanned over two days on May 29 and May 30, targeted massive unauthorized structures that had come up on government properties.
According to official sources, this Anti Encouragement operation was carried out at Mauje Juhu, specifically targeting City Survey (CTS) Numbers 1209/1, 1209/2, and 1213. During the 48-hour operation, demolition squads demolished nearly 70 unauthorized residential and commercial shanties and concrete structures that had illegally occupied the high-value territory.

The high-stakes eviction drive was conducted under the direct guidance of senior bureaucrats, including Mahendra Kalyankar, Chief Executive Officer of the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA); Saurabh Katiyar, Collector of Mumbai Suburban District; and Ganesh Misal, Additional Collector (Encroachment/Demolition) for the Western Suburbs.
The on-ground execution was led by a team under Smt. Vaishali Pardeshi, Deputy Collector (Encroachment Demolition), Bandra.
This massive demolition drive was successfully concluded with the support of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) K-West Ward and the Juhu Police Station staff.
In an exclusive conversation with Hello Mumbai News, Ganesh Misaal, Additional Collector for the Western Suburbs, explained, “This demolition drive went smoothly, and we are grateful to the other government agencies that supported us in this operation.”
Mr. Misaal further stated that the 8,000-square-foot land has a current market value of ₹80 crore. This marks the department’s second major demolition drive this month, following an operation in Kandivali that cleared 17 illegal structures and reclaimed land worth ₹90 crore.
