About Dr. Dipti Desai:
As a dentist – turned artist, I find solace in intersection of art and philosophy. My works are an ode to beauty of imperfection inviting viewers to contemplate the transformative power of embracing flaws. With a strong foundation in dentistry, I discovered a deeper creative calling leading to exploration of various art forms. As a multi-disciplinary artist, I try to seamlessly merge the boundaries of stained-glass, oil, digital, acrylic and pen art. My art work embody the principles of Kintsugi and Wabi-sabi. Every break in the glass is unique. When the broken pieces come together the outcome is uniquely beautiful. I find mosaic, like Kintsugi a metaphor for life. Rather than hiding imperfections we accept them and find new perspectives through them. Each piece is a testament to transformative power of embracing flaws and finding elegance in the broken. My art is a celebration of flaws and scars in life. My works have been exhibited in India and abroad. My latest milestone includes selection of “Sharbat Gula’s” mosaic portrait for inclusion in renowned photographer Steve McCurry’s portfolio to be displayed in his exhibitions and participation in the exhibition in collaboration with Indian Cancer Society where I exhibited a stained glass mixed media portrait of Mr Ratan Tata.
