Transgenders Honored with Rex Karmaveer Puruskar at Season 13 Ceremony at Shriram Millennium School Noida

In a momentous event held recently, the Rex Karmaveer Puruskar was awarded to outstanding individuals who have showcased relentless courage and commitment to social justice.
Among the honored recipients were Christina Evers, a prominent trans activist, and Suhani Moontasir, a celebrated model and actress. Christina Evers, known for her tireless work with the transgender community and her impactful social work in the slums and streets of Mumbai, received the Silver Medal. This recognition marks a significant milestone for the transgender community, highlighting the importance of visibility, acceptance, and equality.

The award ceremony, graced by dignitaries such as Indrani Mukherjee, Shaine Soni, one of the first transgender to represent India at the Miss. Universe and Rumana Sinha Sehgal (Mrs. Universe India 2017), was a grand celebration of courage and resilience. Christina Evers expressed her heartfelt gratitude, stating, “Being awarded the Rex Karmaveer Award is not just a personal achievement but a collective victory for the transgender community. It underscores our relentless efforts and the progress we are making towards equality and acceptance.”

The ceremony also saw special thanks extended to Jeroninio (Jerry) Almeida and Eitu Vij Chopra, whose dedication and hard work have been instrumental in the success of the Karmaveer Fellowship. Their stories of resilience and commitment continue to inspire many, reinforcing the values of perseverance, empathy, and the joy of giving.
