MUMBAI — The Mumbai Crime Reporters Association (MCRA), a highly reputed and trusted body representing the city’s crime journalists, successfully conducted its executive committee elections on Friday, May 15. The polling took place within the secure premises of the Mumbai Police Commissioner’s Headquarters.

In a standout testament to the professionalism of the city’s media fraternity, the entire electoral process was conducted with immense discipline and decorum. More than 125 senior journalists from various leading media houses participated in the voting process.

In a sweeping victory, senior journalist Mr. Vishal Singh and his panel secured a decisive mandate. This landmark win marks Mr. Singh’s third consecutive term as the President of the prestigious association, reaffirming the fraternity’s continued faith in his leadership.

The election process was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Chief Election Officer Dr. Mayur Parikh and Assistant Election Officer Sudhakar Kashyap. Voters turned out in large numbers to exercise their franchise.

Key Election Outcomes

  • President: Vishal Singh was elected to the top post by a thumping majority, marking his third consecutive term as President.

  • Vice President: Sarvesh Tiwari

  • Secretary: Brijbhan Jaiswar

  • Joint Secretary: Sachin Gaad

  • Treasurer: Poonam Paraj

Senior Journalists Priti Sompura, Mateen Hafiz and Aleem shaikh cast their vote

The newly elected executive body also includes representatives dedicated to strengthening the association’s governance:

  • Women Executive Members: Jyotsna Gangne and Yesha Kotak

  • Executive Committee Members: Ashish Singh, Shahid Ansari, Diwakar Singh, Avdhut Kharade, and Krishna Sonarwadkar.
