NCP emerged supreme for its psrformance – BJP forges ahead to retain government in Maharashtra Assembly Elections
Mumbai: Even as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) forged ahead to retain the Government for the second term in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections, however, NCP headed by juggernaut Sharad Pawar emerged supreme for the party’s outstanding performance compared to their performance in the 2014 Maharashtra Assembly Elections which had 15 per cent population of the Muslim Community in Maharashtra. In this Assembly Election 11 Muslim Candidates emerged victorious from different political parties. Mumbai which had 35 per cent population of the Minority Community, particularly the North Indian Muslim were Congress and Samajwadi supporters .
Predominantly in Mumbai five Muslim Candidates emerged victorious:
1 : Amin Patel from Congress party won in (Mumbadevi Constituency)
2 : Zeeshan Siddiqui won from Congress party in the ( Mumbai Devi Constituency)
3: Aslam Shaikh of the Congress Party won in the Malad west Constituency.
4 : Nawab Malik from NCP won in the Anushakti Nagar Constituency).
5 : Abu Asim Azmi of Samajwadi Party won in the Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar constituency.
6 : Rais Shaikh also of the Samajwadi Party won in the Bhiwandi Constituency.
7 ; Hasan Mushrif of NCP won from Kolhapur.
8 : Mufti Ismail of AMIM won from
9 : Dr Fareed Shah AMIM Candide wins from Dhule city .
10. Abdul sattar of Shiv Sena won from Siilod constituency.
This time BJP did not win with a huge majority because they took the voters for granted. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan ” Ab ki baar 200

paar” and 220 plus target of 228 Assembly berths in Maharashtra fell by the wayside. Infact the BJP brazenly ignored local issues and refused to address economic slowdown, unemployment and stuck to contentious national issues- abrogation of Article 370 and the National Register of Citizens(NRC). These obviously delivered a body blow by the voters both in Maharashtra and Haryana.
