Mumbai: Mumbai gets new Commissioner of Police Anti-Corruption Bureau Chief Parambir Singh took over the reins of the Police Force – He succeeded Sanjay Barve who retired today.

Meanwhile the outgoing Commissioner of Police Sanjay Barve was given a warm farewell by his colleagues at Naigaon Police Station on Saturday. The 1987-batch IPS officer, who had taken charge as the Police Commissioner on February 28 last year, had got two extensions, first in August and then in November.

Incidentally, it was during the time when Parambir Singh headed the Vidarbha Irrigation (VIDC) in December 2019 that the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and NCP’s Ajit Pawar was given a clean chit.

During the farewell parade, Barve and DCP Akhilesh Singh, went around the police grounds in an open jeep and he individually met every official.

He said that as of today, the Mumbai police are well armed and capable of facing any challenges. He added that in his tenure, he has witnessed elections, protests against CAA, NRC and other challenges, but officials of the Mumbai Police have handled them very well.

Senior Policemen, including Joint, Additional and Deputy Commissioners, besides Senior Inspectors of all police stations were present on the occasion.
