Hello Mumbai City Desk

Mumbai Votes Down The Middle; 19-17

So how has Mumbai voted?
36 Assembly seats
The way Mumbai votes is not necessarily the way Maharashtra votes
And Mumbai does not even vote
A turnout of just about 50% says it all
Mumbai cares; sure, but about what?
Bad roads, potholes, bad sewerage, smell of rotting fish and garbage, steel and glass monstrosities that pass for commercial architecture in the new business districts, 3-wheelers that don’t know right from left or that they should overtake from the right, Ola and Uber drivers that are first cousins of auto drivers, slum dwellers that await relief and rehab, local trains that have hit even more crowded since the Metro became operational, roads that have more cars than is humanly possibly to count, BEST buses that are not really BEST but contracted to entities that have drivers who think they are driving 3-wheelers
And on top of all that the gigantic mixers, trucks and tempos full of construction material that shows you there is building on, on a scale that’s gargantuan
Coastal road, metro, flyovers, Atal Setu, Samruddhi Marg, expressways that are as crowded as the tiniest bylanes, bumper to bumper traffic right into the wee hours of the night And half of us still managed to cast our vote It’s a miracle.

Murli Deora’s son Milind Deora stands from the Worli Assembly seat on an Eknath Shinde Shiv Sena ticket with the bow and arrow symbol of Balasaheb Thackeray’s Shiv Sena against Balasaheb Thackeray’s grandson Aditya Thackeray who has been allotted the torch as his symbol
Boggles the mind Congress oil minister, treasurer. MRCC president Murli Deora’s son Milind Deora (himself former MRCC President, minister twice in Congress governments, 2 time Congress MP from South Mumbai) stands for election on a Shiv Sena (Shinde) ticket!
The world’s been turned upside down
Shaina N C long term National Spokesperson for the BJP also on a Sena (Shinde) ticket from Mumbaidevi against Congress strongman Amin Patel
BJP’s Amarjit Singh on an RPI quota seat with a BJP symbol from Kalina against Sanjay Potnis of the UBT Sena
It’s Alice in Blunderland
And someone’s on the best weed in town
There 2 Senas, 2 NCPs
Congressmen are in BJP and Sena

CM Eknath Shinde Addressing a Election Sabha in Mumbai

And Raj Thackeray still continues his grand isolation as being the sole torch bearer for what Balasaheb Thackeray really stood for.
Will MNS make a dent?
Or will everyone smile with a Happy dent smile chewing politics and spitting out beteljuice?

36 seats
It could be straight down the middle with 17-18 each
Or 20-16 or 16-20.

Mumbai Region Wise Brief Survey & Prediction

Mahavikas Aaghadi will perform Good in South Mumbai .,,(Shewdi, Bycullah, Mumbadevi,Dadar,Worli and Mahim.)

BJP Will perform good in North West District Mumbai (Andheri West, Goregaon West, Kandivali West and East, Goregaon and Dahisar).

Mahavir Aaghadi will perform Good in North West Central Mumbai .(Kalina, Bandra,Kurla, Sakinaka and Andheri East.,)

And will these 36 horsemen of the constantly constructing city work for us?
I hope they will…
There’s Naseem Khan, Zeeshan Siddique, Ashish Shellar, Aslam Sheikh
And then there are the rest
Will they rest on Mumbai’s laurel heap or will they bring civilisation back to what used to be the most civilised of all cities?
