MUMBAI: In another swift administrative move, the General Administration Department of the Government of Maharashtra has assigned crucial additional responsibilities to senior bureaucrat Shri. Sanjay Khandare, IAS.

According to the official government notification dated May 19, 2026, issued by Subhash Umranikar, Joint Secretary to the Government of Maharashtra, Mr. Khandare has been given the **additional charge of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)** portfolio under the Medical Education and Drugs Department, Mantralaya, Mumbai.

Dual Responsibilities

Mr. Khandare, who currently serves as the Additional Chief Secretary (Tourism) in the Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department, will manage the FDA portfolio in an additional capacity until further official orders are issued.

The directive explicitly instructs Mr. Khandare to immediately take over the charge of the subject from  Dheeraj Kumar, IAS , who is currently the Secretary of the Medical Education and Drugs Department.

The notification has been formally circulated to the state’s top executive offices, including the Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, the Principal Secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister, and relevant ministerial secretariats for immediate compliance.
