The Department of Empowerment of Person’s with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India has launched a nationwide Suganya Yatra 2025 on 7th February (Friday).
This Sugamya Yatra also organised at, Turnbarg Baramulla District of Jammu and Kashmir on 7 th February .The main objective of this yatra was to create mass awareness regarding accessibility issues faced by persons with Disabilities (Divya jans) and to sanitize stakeholders about their responsibilities under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD,,)Act 2016.

A resident of Kunzer Baramulla & Zonal President J& K Ittihad Specially Abled Welfare Association said,” It’s a good initiative taken by Government of India to support the people like us I and my other team members from different villages participated in this bike rally through this bike rally we conveyed our message to the Government such as we face many problems in our day to day life, we have put up our demanded and problems before the Government they listened it promised to Solve it step by step.

The key aspects of Sugamya Yatra 2025 include:
1. Awareness Creation: Sensitization about accessibility rights as per the RPWD Act,
2016, and UNCRPD.
2. Yatra Planning: Identification of key public places such as government offices, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, tourist sites, and other essential locations to assess accessibility.
3. Stakeholder Mobilization: Involvement of persons with disabilities, civil society organizations, accessibility auditors, and public authorities.
4. Use of Digital Tools: Participants should use the Yes to Access mobile application and a Google form for real-time data collection.
5. Non-Confrontational Approach: The Yatra is not an accessibility audit but a friendly and awareness-building initiative. Feedback should be given constructively to concerned authorities without any legal or media pressure.
