Mumbai Queer Pride 2025: A Celebration of Individuality and Acceptance
Mumbai came alive with vibrant colors and resounding chants on February 1, 2025, as the city celebrated Mumbai Queer Pride at August Kranti Maidan. The event drew thousands of participants, united in their commitment to equality, love, and acceptance.

Among the many voices that stood out was that of Christina Evers, a prominent transgender activist and a powerful advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community. Christina was seen passionately chanting slogans such as #NoGoingBack, “Love is Love,” “We are gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, asexual, non-binary, lesbians,” and the stirring call for freedom, “Humey chahiye azaadi.”

The Pride Walk was not just a march; it was a powerful affirmation of individuality and a celebration of the diversity that makes the LGBTQIA+ community unique. Participants carried banners and flags, creating a sea of rainbow colors that filled the historic grounds of August Kranti Maidan. The energy and solidarity were palpable, as people from all walks of life came together to support and uplift one another.

This year’s Pride was a reminder of the progress made in the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights and the work that still lies ahead. It was a day to honor the resilience of the community and to recommit to the ongoing struggle for equality and acceptance in society.
The event was organized by the Mumbai Queer Pride collective, which comprises individuals, groups, NGOs, and corporate entities dedicated to creating a more inclusive and just society. As the sun set on August Kranti Maidan, the message was clear: love will always triumph over hate, and the fight for equality is far from over.
