# Mumbai Police Crack Bike Theft Case: Nagpada Detection Team Recovers 3 Stolen Two-Wheelers, Arrests 1
MUMBAI:In a wift operation, the Nagpada Police has successfully cracked a series of vehicle thefts, arresting a 25-year-old suspect and recovering three stolen two-wheelers.
The arrested accused has been identified as Mohammad Umar Mohammad Akram Khan (25)**, a P.U.P. artisan residing near King Sharma Hotel at Kazipura, Two Tanki, J.J. Marg, Mumbai.
The breakthrough came during the investigation of a recent theft registered under Nagpada Police Station Crime Register (C.R.) No. 272/2026, under Section 303 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The Incident
The case was initially registered after a resident reported that their Honda Dream Yuga motorcycle, valued at ₹15,000, was stolen from outside 162, Kasim Mitha Chawl on Maulana Azad Road in Nagpada. The theft occurred between 8:00 PM on May 8, 2026, and 9:00 AM on May 9, 2026. A complaint was subsequently lodged against an unknown person on the evening of May 9.
The Investigation & Arrest
Under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Kale, a dedicated team led by Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Dnyaneshwar Shendge launched a manhunt.
The team meticulously scanned footage from approximately 30 government and 35 private CCTV cameras to map out the suspect’s escape route. Combining technological tracking with human intelligence and local informants, the police successfully traced the suspect to the Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) Nagar Railway Station area, where he was caught red-handed with the stolen Honda Dream Yuga.
Multiple Thefts Uncovered
During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to his involvement in two other recent vehicle thefts in the zone. 100% of the stolen property has been recovered. The interrogation revealed:
Theft 2:On May 4, 2026, he stole a Hero Splendor motorcycle from near Indigo Bar on Foras Road, Nagpada.
Theft 3: He also confessed to stealing a Honda Activa scooter from the jurisdiction of the J.J. Marg Police Station.
Following up on his confession, the tracking team verified that one of the missing motorcycles was already towed and secured at the Nagpada Police Station, while the other was deposited at the Pydhonie Traffic Section.
