MUMBAI — In a major administrative development, former Maharashtra Director General of Police (DGP) Rashmi Shukla has been appointed as a member of the Lokayukta, the state’s apex anti-corruption judicial ombudsman.

The high-profile appointment places the veteran law enforcement officer at the helm of state anti-graft oversight, where she will oversee investigations into corruption complaints against public servants and elected representatives.

Shukla, a seasoned IPS officer of the 1988 batch, recently retired from her post as the state’s top cop.
